Uber is a ride sharing service based in US. Its Indian arm, Uber India, has introduced Uber Go, the cheapest service that promises to give a car ride to people for fares as low as Rupees 30 in cities like Jaipur while the minimum rates would be close to Rupees 80 in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai. Uber claims that this service would provide a chance to people to cover short distances in cities in the comfort of a hatchback rather than taking ride in an auto rickshaw.
Move in a car and pay as low as the fare of an auto rickshaw
Uber has said that it will provide cars like Wagon R, Tata Indica, Maruti Alto and even Etios Liva under this service. So now you have the option of travelling in a car at the price of a ride in an auto rickshaw. Whether you want to go to your bank, market, kids’ school, or to a mall, all you need to do is to give a call and a car would arrive to pick you up from where you are.
According to the company, drivers of these cars would be provided with smartphones made by Huawei to communicate easily and quickly with the customers. Uber Go would be available in all 10 cities of India where Uber has its presence. These cities are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Chennai, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Bangalore.

Smaller, smarter, cheaper
Before Uber Go, it was Uber X that was introduced as a low cost service by the company. There is also a premium service called Uber Black being offered by the company to the people in these cities. Uber refers to Uber Go as smaller, smarter, and cheaper variant among its services. This low cost service is for India only as Uber realizes that it can succeed in this country only by offering cheap services.
Bhavak Rathod, General Manger of Uber India in Bangalore, expressed hope that Uber Go would be lapped up by people who have no other option but to take a ride in an auto rickshaw at present. “We are excited to announce the launch of UberGo, a spanking new range of low cost, chauffeur-driven hatchbacks (think Tata Indica Vista and Maruti Suzuki Swift) that roll on to the streets of every Uber city in India today,” he said.

Uber has hit hurdles in recent past
Uber was asked by the RBI last week to follow its guidelines on payment process. As a part of this process, Uber tied up with Paytm that will allow the users of services of Uber to open a prepaid account using their smartphones and load this account whenever they desired. Uber has been under the scanner of the central bank as it was alleged earlier to have indulged in service tax violations. Uber has said that it will comply with the directives issued by RBI in totality to remove this negative perception from the minds of the people.
