Massacre in Assam that took place two days ago has shocked not only the tribals in the area but also the central government that has sprung into action. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited the affected areas and met the family members of those killed in this brutal and cowardly terror attack carried out by NDFB (S). Rajnath tried to console the family members while asking them to observe restraint lest clashes erupt on ethnic lines in the tribal areas of Assam. He assured the kin of the deceased that strong action would be taken against the culprits.
These cold blooded murders are nothing but massacre
Talking with people of media later at a press conference, Union Home Minister described the incident as very unfortunate and a massacre of innocent people. He told reporters that time bound action against the perpetrators of this heinous crime would be taken. He made it clear that there was no question of any dialogue with these terrorists who do not understand the language of humanity. There would be no talks with the terrorist who carried out murder of innocent men and women in cold blood. He added that the Prime Minister has announced ex gratia compensation of Rs. 2 lakhs for the kin of the people killed in this terrorist attack.
Centre has started the counter offensive against the terrorists
Informing about the action initiated by the centre after this incident, Rajnath Singh said that 50 companies of Central Armed Police Forces have already been dispatched to Assam. These forces will launch a massive operation against the terrorists in coordination with the state police and Indian Army to comb the entire area to flush out these cowards. He also informed the media that centre has announced a probe into this incident by NIA.
Chaired a high level meeting
The Union Home Minister made a fervent appeal to the people of the affected areas to observe restraint and maintain peace and harmony in the state. Earlier, he chaired a very high level meeting to take stock of the situation after the terror attacks in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts of Assam. Joel Oram, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Tarun Gogoi, the Chief Minister of Assam, and Anil Goswamy, Home Secretary, also participated in this meeting.
No talks with the militants
The serial attacks carried out b y NDFB (S) two days ago killed 71 innocent men and women in Assam. Government has been outraged by this terror attack and it has ruled out any talks with the militants. Describing these attacks as a challenge to the nation, Rajnath said, ‘’there is no question of holding any dialogue with a terror group. I have spoken to the Assam CM and we have decided to investigate the entire incident by the NIA. We want to see the links of such groups. We want to know with whom they have connections.’’
Rajnath Singh said that the Premiers of Bhutan and Myanmar have assured all help and cooperation in identifying the hiding terrorists and to flush out these terrorists from their countries.
