Mrs. Yasha Mudgal, DEO for the district of Udhampur, to make sure that the counting of votes polled in the constituencies goes off smoothly, held a round of talks with not only representatives of various political parties but also people from media. There are 3 constituencies falling in this district. Other officials present during this interaction were Mr. Mohit M V, General Observer 61, Mr. Suleman Choudhary, SSP, Mr. Pawan Parihar, Returning Officer 60-Udhampur, Mr. Vikas Sharma, RO Chennai 61, Mr. Deepraj, RO Ramnagar, Dr. Ashwani Hansa, District Information Officer, Mr. Rajeev Magotra, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, and a few other senior officials.
DEO thanked representative of political parties for their cooperation
During the meeting, Yasha Mudgal thanked all political parties for their cooperation in conducting smooth and impartial elections in Udhampur district. She requested all people to maintain this cooperation so as to ensure smooth counting of votes that will take place on 23 December 2014. This counting will begin at 8 AM in the morning at Government Degree College Udhampur.
Carrying phones will not be allowed during counting
She informed all people that carrying mobile phones in the halls where counting will take place is prohibited. To stop people from carrying these phones, there will be a counter to collect the mobiles of the people outside the hall. Yasha Mudgal said that she expects all political parties to maintain law and order before, during, and after the counting. She also shared the guidelines and norms issued by Election Commission in this regard.
She gave instructions to people from the media
Later during the day, Yasha Mudgal had a round of talks with media persons and informed them about how to cover the event of counting of votes. He told them that a media centre has been constructed for the use of people from the media. The DEO also said that latest trends and updates during counting will be provided to media people. She thanked media personnel for cooperating for successful elections and expected the same level of cooperation during the counting event.
