Rajeshwar Singh, Chief of Dharm Jagran Samanvay Samiti, who is the man behind the controversial conversions in recent times, has been asked by the RSS to go on leave. He was the man spearheading the campaign of alleged forced conversions in western UP and Uttarakhand for some time. Dharm Jagran Samiti is a fringe outfit affiliated with RSS. Singh has reportedly been asked by RSS to lie low and he has gone on leave citing health reasons. He said that he is desirous of some rest and wants to undergo tests and treatment at Arsh Gurukul in Etah, UP. He told reporters that he is suffering from diabetes and some other ailments and wishes to undergo treatment.
The real reason for his sacking is the displeasure of the Prime Minister
However, insiders claim that the convener of the controversial Ghar Wapsi program has been dumped by RSS after what transpired during the meeting between the Prime Minister and senior leaders of RSS. It is believed that Narendra Modi expressed his unhappiness at the controversial programs launched by RSS. He conveyed his displeasure in strong words and even threatened to resign from his post if RSS does not rope in these fringe elements. He also told the Sangh leaders that programs like Love Jihad and Ghar Wapsi are creating a bad image of the government and BJP and such activities would prove detrimental in the next assembly elections in UP and Bihar. He felt that the focus of the government was on development and these activities are unnecessarily giving opposition parties weapons to attack the government.
His activities were creating a bad name for the government
It must be recalled that because of the so called Conversions of nearly 300 Muslim people in Agra, huge uproar took place in the parliament with opposition parties accusing government of indulging on its Hindutva plank. It took all efforts from the Prime Minister to douse the fire as he made a statement in the parliament denouncing such activities.
Singh was all set to expand his activities in other parts of the country
It is believed that the 55 year old Chief of Dharm Jagran Samanvay Samiti was all set to expand his activities and arrange mass conversions in not only other districts of UP but also in Bihar and Uttarakhand. He had taken a pledge to make India a Hindu Rashtra by the end of 2021. But now, all his dreams lie shattered as he has been asked to go on leave and take rest by the RSS. Tough Singh has been removed from his post; he remains adamant saying that he is only going on a leave and will be back when RSS requires his services.
