Why do you think that Android has been outselling Windows Phone 7, the legendary WP8 devices and pervious OSs for such a long time? As a matter of fact, on the same note, Windows is having a hard time catching its breath against rest of the market contenders. The OS’s performance is off to a declining slope, which sometimes makes RIM’s Blackberry OS looks far better.

By the way, after all that has been going on between RIM and Pentagon’s disagreement to do business with the company, things are still looking bleak for Microsoft. It was supposed to be a “one less competitor” kind of situation for the company, but sadly it isn’t – and yeah, I love Blackberry 10 series devices so much these days.

In terms of sales record from the past few years Nov. 11 – 2010 to Nov. 24 – 2012, Windows Phone 7 only accounted for a meager 1.87% of the overall smartphone sales. Meanwhile, Blackberry lunged in at 19.36%, Android at 28.56% and Apple iOS attracted 7% customers in the above time period. Do bear in mind that these statistics are old.

A lot of companies carry out their own surveys, which calls for a difference in statistical data. Take a look at our reasons that related to Windows Phone 7’s infrequent and instable demand pattern against the Android OS;

Security Issues in the OS:

  • If it’s about security, Windows Phone 7 and 8 Mobile OS doesn’t have any on-device encryption services. There are no thorough complex password policies and no VPNs … so that kind of makes the Microsoft OS a bad choice for privacy concerned customers. Since most of the clients are traditionally from the business community, they’d never compromise on security modules.

Apps:

  • As far as the apps go, it’s another area where Windows is lagging. We have over 1400 apps in our record that Microsoft and some other developers have created for the mobile phones. The figure is small and it doesn’t fare well against what Android has in store. BUT, seeing to the fact that Windows Phone 7 is fairly a new OS and people at this level check out its quality, rather than quantity, there isn’t much of “quality” aspect there.

System Performance:

  • Windows Phone 7, as compared to the Android OS, touts sluggish performance. It is poor and sort of makes us think that Microsoft’s OS had been spending a lot of time on the couch.  Microsoft also chose to go with Flash, which is slowly becoming outdated as compared to HTML5 and other video plugin modules.

Microsoft is a multi-billion dollar company. Sometimes it seems like a shame to see them trying and failing at beating the competition. What they need is a stream of original ideas and pure innovation, which does not seem like a common trait in upcoming software developers.
