CodePlex is a foundation that works under the influence of Microsoft for open source projects. Since we all know that Microsoft is in the habit of organizing things and appointing a leader for every branch/department out there, they just hired Stephen Walli as the new acting technical director of CodePlex.

Walli has a good resume since he has served various open source based companies over the past few years. This time, in CodePlex, Walli is assigned to manage the galleries that are groups of open source projects organized around a common theme.

As of this moment, the site is currently dealing with 6 projects of their own and Walli said that he was responsible for handling things at a high level of the organization and it mainly involves strategic planning and monitoring. For that very purpose, he is making sure that all members of CodePlex have everything they require, just because their goals can be met before deadline.

In addition, Walli is also maintaining his personal blog where he talks about various issues in open source based companies. He has worked on numerous ISO POSIX working bodies, before he was officially invited to join CodePlex. The association of Stephen Walli and Microsoft has been going on and off since the year 1999, and the Microsoft team is just happy to have him working for them again.
