There was a cut throat tendering process and MEHAIR was opted after which, The Department of Civil Aviation and the Gujarat government Friday subjected a letter of intent (LoI) to MEHAIR.
Intra state cargo connectivity with aircraft is a huge leap of progress that has been taken. India wants to lead in every sector and so as far as aviation is deliberated, it wants to have 100 seaplanes into service in the next 10 years.
An official said on Friday that Maritime Energy Heli Air Services (MEHAIR) Pvt Ltd of Mumbai, which operates India’s first onshore seaplane services in Maharashtra, will launch regional amphibian aircraft services within Gujarat in a short while.
Gujarat stands to be a second state after this issuance to have its own regional intra-state aviation services.
The service will connect major cities like Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Surat, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Mandvi, Keshod, Rajkot and Porbandar is likely to be launched by Dec 22.
Chief Minister Anandiben Patel handed The LoI over to director and co-founder of MEHAIR Siddharth Verma Gujarat Aviation Minister Saurabh Patel and Gujarat civil aviation secretary Sonal Mishra.
It is likely to use the Cessna 208B magnificent and splendid Caravan seaplanes which can carry nine passengers and two pilots.
“This regional air connectivity will offer a bigger impetus to not just trade and commerce but also seeing the sights and holy tourism as it apart from saving time is an expedient mode of travel,” said Verma during the handover.
He clarified that now folks would be able to complete their deals in a far-off city in Gujarat and come back home on the same day.
Following the victory of the same, even the Indian Navy is now gazing there eyes for military standard US 2 amphibian aircraft from Japan’s ShinMaywa to operate in island territories.
If coastline of India is considered, it has 7500 km of coastline but yet, the eastern and western’s major seaboards have old connective lines.
Every plans will be considered to promote the seaplane services in the region and countrywide. Now tourist and people planning to travel can hop on to sea planes to travel.
