The fast paced Cyclone – Hudhud is approaching Indian regions very quickly and is predicted to hit the Indian coats in the next twelve hours. The three states that the cyclone will directly affect are Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Telangna.
Taking stock of the preparedness to fight the situation, Rajnath Singh, the Union Home Minister, has iterated to the Chief Ministers of the state that the Centre is prepared to extend all the help in the relief and rescue operations.
According to reports, the National Disaster Relief Force has been put on high alert and 35 different teams have been mobilised in various areas of the three states.
The composition and distribution of these teams is in accordance with the level of peril. Four teams have been deployed in Vishakhapatnam, two in Srikakulam, four in East Godavari while one team has been sent to Vijaynagaram to combat the challenges that the Cyclone can throw in way of general public of these areas.
Apart from that, four teams are being kept as reserved for battling unforeseen situations in Guntur.
Other than these regions, sixteen NDRF teams have been deployed in threatened parts of Odisha. Kolkata NDRF base has prepared and sent four teams to fortify the pre-deployment.
The teams are positioned at Malkangiri, Kandhmal and Koraput. Similarly, one team each has been stationed at Bhuwaneshwar, Puri, Gajapati, Balasore and Khura as a standard preparatory practice to control any dangerous situation during the storm.
Three teams have been sent to Aska, Chatarpur, Ganjam’s Behrampur area. To keep more vigilance ready, some teams are being stationed at Mundali’s NDFR base, as ‘reserve’.
Since so many teams have been deployed in various parts of the region, NDRF control room is keeping a check and monitoring the developments apart from being in constant touch with other such departments that can immediately provide help when asked to.
Meanwhile, the region is experiencing heavy rainfall and people are themselves trying to take as many security measures as possible for them.
