When the first generation iPhone was about to be released, Nokia officials were laughing their butts off. To them, the idea of a touch based phone seemed “unwittingly absurd”. Well, who’s laughing now? Steve Jobs or Nokia? Well, technically, Steve Jobs can’t actually “laugh” anymore, since he has passed away and all…

But anyhow, Apple product releases have also proven the fact that the world likes to buy whatever the company has to offer on a wide scale. Let’s take a look at different conveniences and things that the iPhone gave to the world in the past:

Apple App Store:

  • Every mobile phone has an application store and if it doesn’t, it won’t survive that long. Since no one wanted to install boring freeware or shareware crap, Steve Jobs came up with actual applications for users from all over the world.
  • Technically, he distorted the concept a little bit because Shareware and Apps are almost identical. Needless to say, the idea of an Apple Application store was well received and people still use it to this day.

Working Touchscreens:

  • I remember a good number of “touch screen” devices before the launch of the iPhone. There used to be those PDAs, “P” series handsets by Samsung and Siemens and they had a Stylus Pen to carry out your touch based bidding.
  • The situation was less than perfect and people thanked the innovative minds behind the iPhone, once it was released. Ever keen on to eradicate unnecessary buttons and keys, Apple used a capacitive screen for the iPhone, whereby the screen is covered in a conductive material. Finger pressure doesn’t matter, and styluses don’t work on capacitive screens because they rely on the fact human that skin is conductive. Thus, Apple proved it was possible to articulately operate a cell phone using your fingertips.
  • They even introduced gestures, such as pinching your fingers together to zoom into or out of photographs.

Jailbreaking 101:

  • As much as Apple hates jailbreaking, it is a legal. If you don’t believe it, take a look at the Copyright Act (DMCA – 2010), you’ll see it in there. Anyways, if it weren’t for the iPhone, jailbreakers wouldn’t have been out there with so much intensity. To this day, any iOS based device is cracked and deemed fit for use, as per a user’s convenience. God bless Jailbreakers and God Bless iOS devices.

Of course it doesn’t end here. Chances are that you are an iPhone user and you probably know a lot more about whatever conveniences that the device has to offer. Why don’t you fill us in on what you think about Apple products in general?
