Things are Not Looking Bright for Blackberry
RIM, otherwise known as ‘Research in Motion’ is lagging these days. The famous Blackberry manufacturer is having a tough time maintaining a decent market share against Apple and Android products. However, RIM is attempting to stay “relevant” and needed in the Apple iPhone era through a slew of old and latest Blackberry devices.
For instance, we have the Torch 9800 smartphone. Blackberry introduced the QWERTY keyboard in it and a couple of technical perks to make the device look more attractive. If I talk about the QWERTY keyboard fad, almost every other company is offering it. This style of keyboard has become a necessity rather than being a style.
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the once “new” Blackberry 9800 was said to have the typical QWERTY keyboard and more than enough processing power to make the unit, run those heavy duty apps like the ones that iPhone and Android are running. But there are certain facts that just are of controversial nature.
A few months ago, I was covering a report about Blackberry devices. I heard that the company was no longer favored by Pentagon and other sensitive organizations because of its disagreements concerning data protection policies. Likewise, in Arab countries, Blackberry was probably banned because the company refused access to its data servers, which are kept offshore for maximum user security.
It looks like Pentagon and NSA are oblivious to the concept of end user privacy. Therefore they wanted RIM to “cooperate” if it wanted to survive in the U.S. smartphone market. There is a probability that later on, the heavily funded Google and other smartphone companies were given a boost by the U.S. government just because they didn’t want RIM to operate anymore.
Moving on, Blackberry’s only hope of making to the headlines is by focusing on 3rd party applications and SDK for developers. In terms of physical features, the Blackberry Torch 9800 is similar to those that we’re already seeing in the market these days. The only things that will set a difference are going to be those applications to make the Blackberry 9800 into a “kicker”.
RIM can use one of that Memory Booster software because it fools those Blackberry processors into managing some tasks that are usually handled by the device’s memory. Don’t expect “Memory Boosters” to kick a breath of life into old Blackberry units, because you need a new modem and inbuilt antenna to carry on with the program.

About Nikki Malik
Nikki Malik brags about writing a bazillion books, including several best selling novels. We haven't seen any of them though. By the way, she also talks about being a winner of virtually every award that the literary community has to offer. Nikki modestly notes that: "It's not that other writer's are less talented than I am...there are a lot of good writers out there. Bunches of 'em. It's just that I seem to write at this different--some might say higher--level than everybody else. That's really all it is."
