Facebook strongly prohibits imposter or fake page creation. Apparently, this action is against the company’s policy. But how come a fake Apple page become viral – so much so that its scams have caused over 46,000 Facebook Likes and an overall engaging fan base?

That’s not all though. There is also a Beats Electronic fake Facebook page, which is carrying out same scams against unsuspecting users. The earliest example of such scams dates back to few days ago when users reportedly read the following post.

The Unsealed Apple iPad Scam - Don't Fall for It

We have got 1,239 boxes of Dre Beats and 250 Monster Beats By Dr Dre Studio Limited Edition that can’t be sold because they have been unsealed. Therefore we are giving them away for free.

Want a pair? Just Share this photo & Like our page and we will choose 1,239 people completely at random on March 15th.

A spokesperson for Beats Electronics was immediately contacted to shed light on the situation. Jimmy Iovine, in an interview with CNET says that the company is in no way affiliated with the “official” Facebook Beats Electronics page, or any of its so called freebie campaigns.

Likewise, over at the fake Apple page, over 47,000 fans were given a heads up about the company’s latest freebie deal.

We have got 82 boxes of iPad Mini’s [sic] that can’t be sold because they have been unsealed. Therefore we are giving them away for free.

Just Share this photo & Like our page and we will choose 82 people completely at random on March 17th.

Good luck!

Fake Apple Facebook Page has Scammed Users in the Past

By the way, Apple is already known for its expensive products and their sense of exclusivity. Unless and until some kind of serious marketing strategy is in order, Apple will never ever hand out free iPads, iPhones or any other devices for that matter.

The official/ legitimate Apple Facebook page has more than 9 million Likes. Apple has not commented or said anything about the aforementioned hoaxes. We are still waiting for a response from the company. The credit goes to “WafflesAtNoon”; an anti-scam website meant for the betterment of online surfers. Spread the word about such Facebook updates so that we can contribute to refining the overall user experience throughout the World Wide Web community.
