Google Chrome Tips for Web Surfers
Some time back, Microsoft released I.E 10 version of the Internet Explorer. The browser does have the potential to be a fire starter but it ain’t nowhere near completion. We’ve got Chrome, the Googlish buddy that is far better than any other browser. I know, at this point Mozilla cultists will start pointing fingers at me, but its true guys, Chrome is a tad bit speedy when it comes to superfast loading times, caching and browsing experience.
Give a read-through to our tips. They’ll help you out in handling Chrome in a better way;
-
Customization:
Develop a habit of customization. It’ll aid you a lot. Through Chrome, you can create your own startup theme. Just open the Wrench icon and select options. Go to the “Basics” menu and set the number of tabs and pages that you would like Chrome to open, every time it starts up.
-
Adding / Dropping Search Engine:
Chrome has massive support for different search engines and browsers, other than Google. There are going to be some items that Chrome doesn’t offer in abundance. Just go to the Wrench icon menu and select the “Manage” option. Set your default homepage or search engine and that’s it.
This is something that Google Experts pasted at their blog (and as seen at PC Mag)
Adding a new search engine to the list is a bit more involved. Say you’re going to use Technoroti.com regularly. You could always navigate to the page, but it’s easier and more elegant to do this: Go to technoroti.com and do a search for anything.
Then copy the URL onto a text page and substitute “%s” for the search term. Now go back to the search options box, fill in the top two fields with the appropriate name and keyword and then cut and paste the text string you just saved into the third field. When you want to use Technoroti, go to the browser’s address bar, delete whatever text is in it, type Technoroti (or whatever name you gave it) and press the “tab” key. You then type in the search terms, and Chrome forwards it to Technoroti which then give you the results.
-
Speeding up:
Lastly, if Chrome seems a bit slow, close all tabs ad re-open them. That ought to do it because Chrome’s memory gets boggy once in a while. Ctrl+W is a great way of closing tabs one by one.
