RSS unit 0f Kerela has recently published an article in Kesari, its mouthpiece, describing the efforts made by Congress to allegedly distort history.
The peculiar feature of the article is that the writer has hinted that the assassinator of Mahatma Gandhi, Nathuram Godse, chose the wrong target. Moreover, the author has implied that Jawaharlal Nehru should have been the aim instead.
The author says, “If history students honestly verified the historical facts before partition and also the views of Godse, they may arrive at the conclusion that Godse had chosen the wrong target.”
B Gopalakrishnan, the author of the article, who has alleged Nehru got into selfish politics during Partition, was a BJP candidate in Chalakudy Lok Sabha constituency in the last elections.
The article even highlighted about how Nehru dispassionately eliminated Gandhi from the participating in the final round of the British dialogue to accomplish his trivial ends. All that he wanted was Gandhi’s khadar and cap as the Indian National Congress party’s symbol, the article purported.
Another report in a prestigious newspaper even says that the RSS article attempts to prove that via the article that Godse was not a swayamsevak and that the RSS was not involved in Gandhi’s assassination.
The article surprisingly also blames Nehru as being the sole root cause of all major national tragedies and gives instances of Gandhi’s assassination and the Partition to back the point.
“Nehru’s selfish politics was behind national tragedies like partition and Gandhi murder.”
The author further even says that Godse was still a better individual than Nehru, as Nehru murdered Gandhi psychologically.
“Godse pulled the trigger on Gandhiji’s chest after a respectful bow. It was unlike Nehru who stabbed Gandhiji from behind and greeted him from front,” writes the author.
In Kerala, the article by Kesari has created quite a commotion. Ramesh Chennithala, the Home minister has even called for an enquiry and directed the state police to take suitable and necessary action against the magazine.
Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president, VM Sudheeran, criticised the RSS and the BJP and said that it is the BJP, and not the Congress that distorts facts and history.
“After the Modi government came to power, consistent attempts are being made to glorify hardcore Hindutva ideologues and Gandhiji’s killer Nathuram Godse. It also displays the intolerance of Modi towards Nehru and his family,” he was quoted saying.
