Former President of Pakistan, General Pervez Musharraf, who was long in the exile, facing threat to life and execution, has come out to speak on the ongoing Pakistan and India ceasefire violations.
More than just speaking, he however took the opportunity to make anti-India comments and add fuel to fire by saying that Pakistan now needs to ‘incite those who have been fighting in Kashmir’
The retired General of Pakistan’s Army, told a TV channel, “We have source (in Kashmir) besides the (Pakistan) army… People in Kashmir are fighting against (India). We just need to incite them,”
He is currently on bail in a case of treachery. He has gained helm immediately after the Kargil dispute that happened in the year 1999.
He also went on to say that Pakistan Army is ready to go on war with Indian Army. He added that there are lakhs of people in the country who would be willing to fight for Kashmir, and that India should not think that Pakistan won’t retaliate, if India hits it. Pervez Musharraf. AFP
When asked to comment on the latest instances of cross-firing at the International Border, “In Kashmir, we can fight with the (Indian) army from both the front and back…We are Muslims. We will not show the other cheek when we are slapped. We can respond tit for tat,” said the 71-year-old.
He said that external aggression can take place only when Pakistan stays week internally, but this was not the case. Elaborating the point, he added, “If we remain strong internally, no one can dare to target us.”
The former president also commented, “Modi is anti-Muslim and anti-Pakistan. He has not changed. The problem is with us… We are running to attend his (Modi) inauguration, we should keep our dignity.”
Musharraf also spoke that the MFN status, or the Most Favoured Nation Status granted to Pakistan by India is mere “a joke”.
He was forced to leave his office in the year 2008 after his supporters had lost. But he again returned to Pakistan in 2013, after a span of 4 years, of exile that he had imposed on himself, but only to find that a huge number of cases were awaiting his arrival.
He is now on bail in 4 criminal cases and a treachery case is still in the process in a special tribunal.
