Rodrigo Diaz - Google ImagesRodrigo Diaz was barely in his 20’s. I’d call him a kid; someone who is just learning the ropes and probably had a long road ahead of him. However fate had something else in plan for him. Diaz was shot and killed when he allegedly followed wrong GPS directions on his way to a skating trip.

According to Diaz’s friends, it was supposed to be a casual trip with friends – you know… nothing fancy, just the usual stuff. They were supposed to make one last stop at a 15 year old friend’s house but no one knew the exact address.

So what did Rodrigo Diaz do? He input the directions in a GPS program and everyone just followed the directions to the old bastard’s house. It turns out that the car stopped in front of one 69 year old Mr. Phillip Sailors, who was probably having a bad day already.

While Diaz was pulling over, the sniveling old wretch was already peering out of one of the house’s windows. In his statement, Phillip Sailors says that he thought that his house was being invaded by strangers. The old man went for his .22 gun; he fired one shot in the air. By that time, Diaz was running back to the car.

The Accused: Phillip Sailors

Phillip Sailors - The Accused Old Man

The poor guy didn’t make it. Sailors aimed for his head and fired another shot. According to Yeson Jimentez, a friend of the deceased, the last words that ever came out of the old man’s mouth after shooting their friend, were, “Shut Up.” That’s it. He went back in and didn’t come out until the cops showed up.

The police have charged Sailors with murder and malice. The Chief of Police: Bruce Hedley, in an interview with the Atlanta Journal Constitution, said, “At this point, we have established the probable cause to charge Mr. Phillip Sailors.”

The authorities are still investigating whether the GPS was programmed by someone, or it coincidentally mislead Rodrigo Diaz to the wrong house. It’s a funny thing – the GPS. I didn’t realize, until today, that you are completely trusting this piece of technology with your life. You never know where you are going to end up if you completely relied on GPS devices.

About Nikki Malik

Nikki Malik brags about writing a bazillion books, including several best selling novels. We haven't seen any of them though. By the way, she also talks about being a winner of virtually every award that the literary community has to offer. Nikki modestly notes that: "It's not that other writer's are less talented than I am...there are a lot a good writers out there. Bunches of 'em. It's just that I seem to write at this different--some might say higher--level than everybody else. That's really all it is."
