CES 2010 Babes Photoshoot | The National.

To hold a big smartphone, you’re gonna need a big pair of hands. I am not just talking about a slightly oversized smartphone; I’m talking about the ridiculously large device which Huawei recently released. This brick of a smartphone is big, and it needs a full grip to help you lob it around in public!

Introducing Huawei’s Ascend Mate – World Biggest Smartphone:

The CES 2013 (Consumer Electronic Show) was a blast. It was a mix of all kinds of cool tech gadgets, upcoming devices that may or may not be released, and definitely some hot babes! But I am not here to debate the babe thing; it’s a tech blog and as much as I am dying to write about the cute red head I met there, or the brunette at 6 o’ clock who kept misusing the letter “O” with her mouth, let’s skip to the Huawei Ascend tablet… oh, I meant smartphone.

Huawei Ascend Tablet - Next to iPhone, and Sony Xperia Z

At the CES 2013, people are already calling Huawei Ascend Mate, the world biggest smartphone. It has a huge screen. Think about 6.1 inch HD display here, which is “.1” inch more than another smartphone that previously held the ‘Biggest Smartphone’ title.

Even the iPhone 5, which has quite a big screen, is still 2 inches smaller than the Huawei Ascend Mate. Now I don’t know why Huawei would release this device. I mean, were they so desperate to go for a publicity stunt, or the researches at Huawei unfortunately happened to be strong believers in the “Bigger is Better” statement.

Rough Huawei Ascend Facts:

Okay, at this point, I think this ‘intro to giant phone’ article has taken the worst turn; It has become opinionated. What the hell! I am gonna say this anyway – Huawei Ascend Mate, even though it is not yet released, is going to fail miserably. It’s not that the phone is not cool or something – it’s just that the device is TOO DAMN BIG!

  • Weight: 198 Grams – No issues here, at least for now.
  • Screen Size – 6.1 Inches: Cmon Huawei what the hell were you thinking?
  • You didn’t make a smartphone, you guys created a “tablet” with the call function.
  • Half way across the screen, you will not be able to reach out with your thumb! Who would hold this phone next to his/her ear in public?
  • Don’t be surprised if someone mugs you. It is your fault for holding this device!
  • Don’t take the Huawei Ascend Mate with you in the gym. You will not be able to do Squats comfortably. There is always a risk of damaging the phone.
  • Plus, it will look weird, holding it in the gym, when most of the gym population is hooked to iPods and smaller sized smartphones.

To conclude it all, the Huawei Ascend Mate is definitely a device made for two handed use. Or if you happen to be physically retarded with one unusually giant hand, you can use this phone because it will be a perfect fit for your hand.

The good thing is that while you are dropping dooces in the bathroom, you can always read a magazine on this smartphone. It is a terrific couch phone, and it is the worst phone to be taken on a long drive. But yeah, you can watch movies, stream videos and keep it as a backup phone if you have that much extra cash to blow.

By the way, Sony is also set to release the Xperia Z, the waterproof smartphone. Maybe it was a desperate move to get some attention in the public, but at least Sony was reluctant on increasing the screen size. The waterproof feature… eh, it might come in handy during a natural disaster, a heavy rainfall or in a swimming pool.
