Wow, and I thought that BMW and Toyota were the only companies that had it up to their necks. Beemer guys called in 150,000+ vehicles; Toyota had been fiddling with similar cases and lawsuit, and now we hear that it’s Nissan.

The latter car maker just announced a recall that pertains to 2 Million models, all linked to engine failure problem. By the way, just like its BMW counterpart, Nissan wouldn’t have bothered to initiate the recall if it wasn’t for those thousands of customer complains coming in from all over.

The Nissan Tiida | One of Many Vehicles with Engine Issues

There were several reports that indicated engine failure issues concerning different Nissan models. The company confirmed that due to some defective parts, the car owners experienced a faulty engine that was not only a hazard to drivers’ health, but also came with short performance and lifeline issues.

The recall process started from Japan with 834,759 vehicles called in. It’ll go all the way to the international level with promises of exchanging the defective parts on the vehicles for free. I guess, owners of Nissan March, Cube and Tiida are at least happy about not having to spend additional money on the repairs.

Good going Nissan, now only if BMW can do the same thing for its customers, wouldn’t that be a delightful experience? This incident also reminds me of the Beta Syndrome. Had Nissan properly beta tested the engine, the issue wouldn’t have been there in the first place. In a race to beat competitors and to make money, a lot of companies these days overlook the finer details.
