EA Offers Free Game Download to SimCity Players
Maxis and EA have been causing several performance issues on their latest gaming project. Residents of SimCity are not happy with server side lags, long waiting queues, random disconnects and etc. – So much so that EA developers have decided to send out goody bags to SimCity gamers.
Lucy Bradshaw, General Manager of project SimCity, alongside Maxis entertainment, have aimed to alleviate the overall gaming experience for players. The mood has been sour for a while now. Players have complained a lot about random disconnects and certain laggy environments. “To get back in your good graces, we’re going to offer you a free PC Download game from the EA Portfolio.” Bradshaw stated as the game is to be updated again very soon.
As of now, EA will be sending an email to those players who have activated their copy of SimCity. According to Lucy Bradshaw, “On March 18, 2013, SimCity players who have activated their game will receive an email, telling them how to redeem their free game.” However, when the free EA game download craze will frizzle away, is SimCity going to have the same performance issues?
What Went Wrong at the SimCity Headquarters?
What went wrong at the server side while you were experiencing issues in SimCity? EA Games does not have a solid answer. As usual, they are attributing game issues with server load and technical difficulties. As if it was EA’s first time dealing with an online game, the representatives said, “The short answer is: a lot more people logged on than we expected,” Bradshaw explained as she continued.
“More people played and played in ways we never saw in the beta. OK, we agree, that was dumb, but we are committed to fixing it. In the last 48 hours we increased server capacity by 120 percent. It’s working — the number of people who have gotten in and built cities has improved dramatically. The number of disrupted experiences has dropped by roughly 80 percent.”
By the way, if you have been playing SimCity lately, try notching down in game display and performance settings a little bit. Perhaps, this will result in a smoother gameplay. But the fact that the online mode is always depended on server side performance and the overall response time, reducing in game display/ audio settings will have little or no impact.
For the time being, the free game download offer is going to calm down agitated players. Meanwhile, EA seriously needs to work out any discrepancies at its end.

About Nikki Malik
Nikki Malik brags about writing a bazillion books, including several best selling novels. We haven't seen any of them though. By the way, she also talks about being a winner of virtually every award that the literary community has to offer. Nikki modestly notes that: "It's not that other writer's are less talented than I am...there are a lot of good writers out there. Bunches of 'em. It's just that I seem to write at this different--some might say higher--level than everybody else. That's really all it is."
