Apple TV | New Updates to Die For
Apple recently rolled out few updates for Apple TV. They timed these OTA (Over The Air Updates) right after a few days when the iOS6 was introduced. If you happen to be a proud owner of one of these devices, by now, you should have been notified about commencing the update.
If you didn’t receive any notification regarding an update, you can do so manually. Simply go to your device’s settings > general options and then click the Update Software. After everything is done, the software version for you Apple TV will be upgraded to version 5.1. The entire process should take no more than 20 – 30 minutes depending on the speed of your internet connection.
Four Hot Perks in Latest Apple TV Update:
Unlike previous versions of the Apple TV software, some new unseen features are introduced this time. With each feature, Apple has provided a link in its update documentation so that you can better understand how to use these new modules.
Icon Rearrangement:
Icons can be rearranged easily now. Viola! Apple TV owners are now content with the way they can move icons at the Home screen. Last time it wasn’t possible for people to move icons, which kind of dulled the overall experience of using the device.
Apple ID Management:
Another nifty feature is Apple ID management in Apple TVs. It only takes a few clicks for family members to switch between their personal Apple TV IDs; a feature that wasn’t made available in the older versions of the firmware. Now you are at liberty to individually manage your profile, purchase history and charge orders to someone else’s ID if proper permissions are granted.
Show Timings:
Movie trailers were, and still are, a great convenience for anyone who wants to get the hang of it. Likewise, Apple TV users can view showtimes and showtime announcements going on in their local movie theaters. This update was also not available in the older versions.
Photo Streaming and Sharing:
Photo streaming and sharing was already in Apple TV. It’s just that this time, the feature has been updated with a slight perk. For instance, you now have the option of getting your Shared Photo Streams that are stored in an iOS or an OS X device.
This feature needs a little bit of precaution to be adhered to. You have to be careful about sharing and streaming photo albums so that anything private doesn’t show up on the TV screen from your iOS or OS X devices.
