Google TV still Struggling – Apple Roku Hit 1 Million Sales
Few days ago, I covered a report about Google TV delays. It true that the search engine company is delaying its TV related plans for now because of several software hitches. Long story short, they want to produce something as fast as a modern PC that would allow its clients to surf the internet and also watch programs.
Apple TV Product Lineup | Is it Better than Google TV?
The current news is more focused on Apple, Google’s arch enemy who is soaring high across the skies. Apple has sold ALMOST one million units of Roku. They’re expecting the sales figures to hit 1 Million by the end of 2010, which is, I think only a matter of few days now. Roku has full plans of going to 2 million units or beyond that, by the end of next year.
On individual grounds, Roku is not that much of a big company. If it weren’t for partnership with Apple, maybe Roku would’ve been struggling with half a million sales or even less. But all thanks to Roku CEO’s efforts and well-pitched interviews with Business Insider, Roku sales have doubled.
If we were to take a gander at the history, the idea of Apple TV was just one of Steve Jobs’s hobbies. He was never too serious about coming up with a proper web based TV until he realized its full potential.
The original form factor of Apple TV was somewhat huge and bulky as compared to what we’re seeing these days. But I guess, all that matters is that Apple is way ahead of Google in this game.
Google, on the other hand, is just struggling with the usual “We will be right back due to technical difficulties” sort of problems. Let’s see what they’re got in store for us.
