Breast Cancer Ribbon Campaign Image | Google Images

It is one of those weird times of the year when Facebook communities start their Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. Some of these campaigns are worth joining, while the rest is total crap. Do you remember the time when some so called breast cancer activists started sending messages to all female users of the website?

During last year, this message was about provoking females to share the color of their underwear, as an attempt to create “awareness” about breast cancer. I don’t know how female undies related to breast cancer but what I do know is that this sort of stuff attracted more males to join the cause, rather than females.

So this year, I got the following message from some douche bag at Facebook:

So here is the time of year again when we try to raise awareness for breast cancer through a game. It’s very easy and I would like all of you to participate. Two years ago we had to write the color of our underwear on our wall. Men wondered for days at what was going on with random colors on our walls. This year we make references to your love life status.

Do not answer to this message just post the corresponding word on your wall AND send this message privately to all the girls in your contact list!!!!!!

BLUEBERRY = single

PINEAPPLE = it’s complicated

RASPBERRY = I can’t / don’t want to commit

APPLE= engaged

CHERRY= in a relationship

BANANA=married

AVOCADO= I’m the better half

STRAWBERRY= can’t find Mr. Right

LEMON = want to be single

RAISIN = want to get married to my partner.

Last time the underwear game was mentioned on TV, let’s see if we get there with this one !!!!!Copy and paste this message into a new one and send to all your girly friends and update your status with your answer. DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS CONVO, just leave and participate.

Breast Cancer Awareness at Facebook is Not a Game:

Breast cancer has become one of the widely misunderstood norms these days. I was hoping to write something to help people; especially a couple of guys understand that it is a disease to be concerned about. After all, it is cancer. Would you like your mom, your girl or someone from the family to fall victim to it? Of course no one desires that.

The above message also states down how their last Facebook Breast Awareness week, in relation to female underwear cover, went viral all over the TV. Yaaaayyy what a great achievement. Considering that their efforts became known at a much larger level, what good did it do? Did the female underwear color fiasco actually contribute to educating someone about breast cancer?

A very few of us actually know about this cancer category other than its name. What exactly is breast cancer? How is it formed? Does your family’s medical history contribute to giving way to this medical condition? The only thing that these campaigns at Facebook do is that they become a great source of sharing silly stuff on the internet.

Of course, it is the age of sharing meme images. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a couple of trolls, posting memes about breast cancer and the so called latest campaign. And just so you know, whenever you see such messages going “viral” at Facebook or any other social media platform, you have the right to say NO.

It is a little hard to understand why someone like you would say “no”, when the message title says:” Share this Stuff – It’s about Breast Cancer Awareness”. The only thing that matters here is the message body. If it is actually contributing to any cause in a constructive manner, go ahead and share that message. Otherwise, ignore it.
