Apache Software Foundation Pondering Google Wave Ownership Idea
Let’s just say that Google Wave wasn’t the perfect software project. The company wasn’t too proud of it, but the devs didn’t give up whatever meager streak of effort they were left with. Day in; day out, they came up with small inputs to improve the overall user experience. Lately, we heard that the genius brain network behind Google Wave has submitted the software to the Apache Software Foundation.
The Foundation will probably extend a deal towards the ownership of Google Wave. Google first introduced the Wave in 2009, it didn’t fare well. The company abandoned it, like a said before, a few months later. What was the reason? Other than the search engine profile, and the Android OS, Google’s social networking tools aren’t that perfect.
By the way, if you don’t know anything about Wave, I don’t blame you for that. but still, just for the sake of gorging on some priceless information here’s a little info;
- Google Wave is / Was a digital conversation platform that can span different electronic modes of communication, such as; emails, chats and documents sharing.
A Google insider said, “While the initial implementation … did not gain sufficient traction for it to continue as a stand-alone Google product, there are other related projects … and several startups in the space that are continuing to build on the technology.”
For Apache Software Foundation, Wave is one of the 110+ projects that are being considered for acquisition – ownership. Let’s see how things turn out.
