HTC is blaming it On Failed Marketing Campaigns
The last time we covered HTC, it was about how the company’s profit margin was falling off the grid. HTC is a good company – and in many consumers’ opinion, it doesn’t deserve to die. However, in the corporate world, it is all about money and big profits.
HTC Plans to Hit it Hard This Time:
It is year 2013 already and HTC is back in the game with high ambitions. The company plans to invest more in marketing campaigns since it believes that the last ones were a floozy. Peter Chou, HTC CEO, in an interview with Wall Street Journal, said, “The worst for HTC has passed.”

Chou’s fears were related to previous marketing campaigns. At least that’s what he was referring to when he used the word: Worse and HTC in the same sentence. “Our competitors were too strong and very resourceful, pouring lots of money into marketing.” Chou continued when asked about HTC’s marketing strategies in 2013.
“We haven’t done enough on the marketing front.” The mobile company did have a good 2011. Things got a little tough in 2012. By the end of it, HTC was counting on its prime product: HTC One X smartphone. Now that 2013 has kicked off, HTC cannot bear to lose against its rivals.
If, God forbid, HTC’s profits tank in 2013, I think it will be yet another “worse” year. Eventually, either the company will shut down or it will be acquired by someone else. By the way, Nokia was also pretty famous back in its golden days. But who cares now? No one.
HTC’s Speculations Related to Marketing in 2013:
HTC cannot count on marketing alone. They do have a plan, but they also need to work on products, other than the HTC One X flagship series. The head of Sales and Marketing Department at HTC, Jason MacKenzie said, “We’ve got a great product. When I demo the camera, I always get a ‘wow’ reaction. We need to deliver that ‘wow’ in our communication.”
Other than marketing, HTC is counting on Celebrity endorsements in 2013. Don’t be surprised to see Al-Pacino or Robert Deniro holding HTC smartphones in several commercials. HTC, alongside its CEO, are adamant on reacting fast against market changes. Let’s hope for the best for this company.
