Angry Birds – The Next Big “Super Mario” Sensation on the Internet
A
ngry Birds… where do I begin with these small feathery critters. You know, when you talk about Angry Birds in a crowd of 10 people, there’s a fair chance that some of them may have actually played this game. If not, then definitely some people within that crowd may have heard about it. The game has become so famous of the past few months.
Angry Birds at YouTube, Angry Birds on Decorated Cakes, Angry Birds in the form of iPhone Skins and Angry Birds on t-Shirts and Underwear. And you know what, I won’t judge you for having them printed on the underwear, as it is a matter of personal choice ‘n taste. So anyways, the main question is where is the world headed with the entire bird mantra? The game has become a phenomenal sensation in a little amount of time, which makes us think that it’s the next best thing on the internet.
And especially, if we’re talking about Angry Birds in the context of gaming, it has become as popular as Super Mario franchise. I envision a time and date when Angry Birds will be adapted on all major gaming platforms. The developers of this game know it better than me because they might have such plans. They may be incorporating Angry Birds in Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. I’m talking about new modes which will involve a state-of-the-art graphics engine and a proper storyline.
Peter Vesterbacka, one of the core individuals behind Angry Birds, recently said, “We’re building the Angry Birds world.” The guy is so much obsessed with these critters that his business card reads, “Mighty Eagle” of Rovio. These people have set Mario is a Benchmark, which is why they’re constantly evolving towards improvement.
Back in December 2009, when the game first appeared on the iPhone, people instantly started downloading it. Do you know why? It’s because the developers of Angry Birds embedded simplicity and effectiveness in the game. It’s kind of like Super Mario, with respect to the game play. You have a guy, or a character and you’re supposed to move from one point to another point. During your 5 minute journey, you’re supposed to encounter several interesting obstacles and stuff like that.
With over 75 Million downloads, where do you think the game is headed? Drop the comments below in the Crotch Bar and let me know what’s in your head.
