Apple CEO Apologizes for the infamous ‘Maps Flap’ Error
Tim Cook, aka Timmy, is in the middle of apologizing to the company’s loyal customers these days. It appears that Apple’s beleaguered map application isn’t as perfect as the one that Google has. “We are extremely sorry” is all that Apple could churn out in response to fulfilling its commitments regarding the newly launched Map application.
Last few weeks oversaw a flow of plans to launch Apple’s very own Map application for its device users. Plans are still in the same old planning stage as Apple fell short on giving life to its promises. CEO Tim Cook said, “With the launch of Apple Maps, it has become clear that the company wasn’t able to deliver what it promised or intended in the first place.”
Well, at least now it has become pretty much obvious that any Maps based application requires a lot of time, dedication and hard work. I’m not saying that Apple appointed a bunch of lazy goons to create Apple Maps, but yeah, compared to Google, the maps flap was already going to occur at some point.
Speaking of apologies, Apple has rarely said sorry for tons of errors. Back in the days when Uncle Steve accidentally led the company to the iPhone 4 Antenna error, yes, they all apologized. Other than that, even when Apple stumbles upon an error, or becomes the cause of a spiked suicide chain in Foxconn, no one apologizes. Hypocrites, aren’t they?
At the moment, Cook is suggesting alternatives to Apple Maps, as long as they take their time to resolve the issues. Bing MapQuest, Waze and many other applications were suggested by Tim Cook. This is to ensure that prissy customers don’t get too cocky on the company’s shortcomings. As of now, compatibility errors and boot errors concerning iOS6 and Map Flap are being fixed.

To our customers,
At Apple, we strive to make world-class products that deliver the best experience possible to our customers. With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment. We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused our customers and we are doing everything we can to make Maps better.
We launched Maps initially with the first version of iOS. As time progressed, we wanted to provide our customers with even better Maps including features such as turn-by-turn directions, voice integration, Flyover and vector-based maps. In order to do this, we had to create a new version of Maps from the ground up.
There are already more than 100 million iOS devices using the new Apple Maps, with more and more joining us every day. In just over a week, iOS users with the new Maps have already searched for nearly half a billion locations. The more our customers use our Maps the better it will get and we greatly appreciate all of the feedback we have received from you.
While we're improving Maps, you can try alternatives by downloading map apps from the App Store like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps by going to their websites and creating an icon on your home screen to their web app.
Everything we do at Apple is aimed at making our products the best in the world. We know that you expect that from us, and we will keep working non-stop until Maps lives up to the same incredibly high standard.
